My life is a study in profound contrasts—a journey of spiritual wandering that has shaped not only who I am, but the very essence of my art. Born in Los Angeles and raised amidst the majestic granite and alpine wilderness of the Sierra Nevada, my earliest memories are rooted in the power and solitude of the natural world.
For over two decades, this journey has unfolded across the American West. I spent a decade in the redwood forests of Northern California, learning to live with the land, before seeking the creative pulse of the city in my years at a notable fine art school. I then found a new kind of self-reliance, living off-grid and homesteading in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Now, for the last five years my life has been a purposeful oscillation between the urban energy of the San Francisco Bay Area and the quiet, rugged expanse of a homestead in the Ruby Mountains.
I am a hermit at heart, finding deep inspiration in quiet moments with a cup of coffee and the meditative practice of zazen. For me, making art is not a choice, but a visceral necessity— I simply cannot not work without getting my fingers in the paint, so to speak. This drive is at the core of my sculptures, where I transform raw, industrial materials into forms that feel both organic and timeless.
My work is an honest expression of this nomadic life. It is an inquiry into the harmony that exists within fragmentation, a search for an authentic reality in a world of constant motion. Through my art, I invite you to join this journey, to look closely at the beautiful imperfections of the world and to find the powerful connections that bind us all together.
